Oh the changes - General Pepper
From the perspective of a 'casual' myth plater, (as if any of us could be concidered casual after the game has been out for oh so long and we're still playing it... Okay I'll level with you)

...From the perspective of a total newb who only plays during the summer, Myth has become a totally different game, but in order to survive I have had to categorize people.

The first type of people is my own category.

"Rustbucket"

This sort of person originally might have been good, but spends too much time lurking through the forums in a nostalgic bliss of that game they used to be good at, embarassed to come online because of the knowlege that only their doom awaits them.  We often feel slightly lonley because we recognize people but they don't say hi... Maybe they didn't recognize us?  Maybe I wasn't good as I remembered?  *sigh* I wish they'd just say hi, maybe a flirty little PM?  ...Maybe thats what they are thinking about me.  The world may never know.  But hey, every time I log on, and enter a game the first thing out of every player... "Who are you?"  Depressing.

From a nostalgic perspective, these players are probably the saddest of the bunch, constantly searching for good times they once had, never finding them.  Oh woe, the community they abandoned and now they can never come back... *sniff*

The 'elite miff player'

these are the remnents of the old rank h00rs.  Of course anyone who cares about rank now adays is probably a rank h00r anyway from the lowest dagger/sword to the Comet...  This new category or "EMP" takes this to a new level, constant trash talk abounds and it's pretty obvious 'single player' was never a goal for these people.  These players can be identified by grossly huge game numbers and a win/loss ratio of about 45-55%, as the only games they play are two team, and their skill doesnt really affect this, as with most myth players its pretty much in the air which team wins.  And they randomly join either side.

From an nostalgic prospective these are probably the easiest to handle.  Just the average myth h00r with an ego trip because now that there are only 500 players not even, they can finally get that rank they wanted and could never acheive back on bungie.net

The Unrankers

The unrankers seem to be made up entirely of closed beta tests of single player total conversions that I'm not in on.   Thus their lives will remain a mystery to us 'lower' life forms who haven't had a map published.  Or even if we had (Hem hem hem) that no one remembers despite it clocking in over 1k downloads back in the day.

Just remember that despite their arrogance these plugins will never be completed or despite great color mapping skills and an interesting new engine developed entirely in 'Fear' will not top 50 downloads... GFG and WWII has shown us the only successful maps aren't good looking... They're just really fast to play.

Last but not least, the weirdest of all...

"The Brazilians."

I don't remember this game being really braziltastic.  I blame T H O R.  But from what I've seen everyone else does to, so oh well.

Where did these guys come from, and do they make fun of us as much as they do us?  The majority american monolingual culture will never know...
