Crouching Ghol Hidden Wight defeats Old School GWAR 45-32 Review by Anduril Return to Index GWAR used some very "original" unit strategies during this match, which at first lead me to believe CGHW would destroy them utterly. Return to IndexCGHW just couldn't get it right however, as often times they looked like they just didn't know what to do. As always dont mind my spelling: Game One - [Stampede] [Desert] Both teams go for normal unit trades this game, but different degrees of normality here you have it. GWAR went with 10 pigs, max bowmen, max warriors, max ghols, 4 dorfs, and 1 stay journeyman with no wights to heal. CGHW went with 30 pigs, 9 bowmen, max warriors, max ghols, 1 dorf, and 6 wights all for puss. CGHW sent all but 2 units to the north river crossing, hoping to rush it while GWAR was still setting up. GWAR, on the otherhand, split into two flanks and sent half their army north and half south. Both teams only sent 1 ghol to the middle. Spider and Mike of GWAR, who controled the southern army and 1 pig, stayed at the river crossing in very pretty unit formations despite having no one attack them. They stay that way for most of the rest of the game. In the north 8 of the 10 GWAR pigs were killed in repeated puss attacks. After GWAR chases off the remaining ghols, they rush the river passage. In moments reminiscent of "Across the ghol" (I think) many of GWARs warriors die as they charge a dwarf and bowmen camped on the small north hill. In the confusion of that battle the north army's remaining pig dies as it too charges. Needless to say CGHW runs over them in the north and gets all 30 pigs to the flags. Spider's south army however finaly moves past the river and, to their credit, does get their 1 pig to the flags. 30-1 pig victory for CGH Game Two - [Flag Rally] [If I had a Trow] Game two is where the unit trades for GWAR get really interesting, here you have it. GWAR got 5 trow, 24 soulless, max myrk, 2 warlocks. CGHW went with 5 trow, 11 soulless, max myrk, 4 warlocks, and 6 mauls. Andy, team captain for GWAR, for better or worse, takes 68% of the teams units. He does delegate the soulless and warlocks however, so his team did get to do somthing. As the game starts 2/3s of GWARs soulless go to the north flag, and camp on the hills arround it. They stay there for the rest of the game. 1/3 of GWARs soulless and 1 warlock go to the middle and stay there until attacked later. The other warlock flanks south with a few myrk as guards. CGHW went for 2 small flanks south and north, and a large middle force. Andy pushes the north CGHW flank back across the river, and back down to their middle flag. CGHW turns and fights, after 3 CGHW trow draw off most GWAR myrk, expecting help from the middle flag units. It gets little help and is destroyed. The only good quote from this entire match comes in about here, and it's only good because it indirectly mentions me:) "No one reviewing this lame ass film" - DragonBlood CGHW Basicly there is alot of unimpressive flag dancing at this point, as GWAR struggles to maintain it's massive lead. To CGHW's credit, they do take down about another 30% of GWAR until GWAR eventually gets a 6 flag victory Game Three - [Flag Rally] [Cracks] Both teams go for a heavy melee approach to this game, but again each in it's own way. GWAR went with 24 bowmen, 5 ghols, 12 knights, 16 warriors, and 18 thrall. CGHW went with 12 bowmen, 13 ghols, 12 knights, 16 warriors, and 20 thrall. CGHW went with heavy thrall, supported by 2 bowmen, base defence. While GWAR sent all their units to attack, and had only a few thrall for defence on all 4 flags. As GWAR attack through the middle, CGHW's ghols draw off most of GWAR's warriors and lead them into a dwarf. GWAR rushes the dwarf, with said warriors, and does eventually kill it, but only after losing 5-10 of their warriors. CGHW realizes that there is almost no defence on any of GWAR's flags, and sends their flanking armies to attack. GWAR does overrun one flag, but cant get to CGHW's base until its too late. GWAR's slim defence cost them the game, and thus the match. 8 to 5 flag victory for CGHW giving them the match. |
