FLAG RALLY : cracks in the cloudspine "I see your melee rush, and raise you 2 worthless dwarves" There have been far too many games in QR to offer up match of the week for each week - especially considering that some teams are playing 2-3 of their matches within a week's time. For that reason, I am offering up - what I think is one of the more fun games to watch so far in the qualifying round. It's not been chosen to emphasize great skill, clever strategy and execution, to ridicule reckless play, or congratulate the winners. I, along with the 4 in neutral host - enjoyed this film more than most I've seen so far, because it celebrates the cliched fat lady singing as well as any myth film I have ever seen before. Throughtout this game, it is never clear which team is going to take it, and why. TCO's melle rush can only be stopped by good dwarfing - and ts fails to use either of their home dwarves effectively - making this nailbiter one of the strangest final flag SD contests in myth history. Without permission, I have taken the liberty of having fun with one of Bill Waterson's legendary Calvin and Hobbes strips. The names have not been changed to protect the innocent (or guilty).     The players in this game include 3 TCO I have never 'noticed' before - vs - 5 very well known and accomplished players forming the sideway's eight team. I won't offer up a play by play, for as clever as I could ever try to be - the film is simply far more compelling. download THE FILMs |
